The launch of Reliance Jio free voice and data service will
start showing on Incumbent overall subscriber base. Based on my analysis,
during Oct-Dec 2016 quarter, the Reliance jio will gain another 25 million
userbase. At the same time, incumbent operators are going to see fall in active
userbase instead of overall subscriber Base.
The move by Reliance Jio to ask it's sales team to impose
the criteria for potential subscriber to put the Reliance SIM as primary SIM
will impact incumbent VLR active subscriber base. Based on the input of Reliance jio subscribers,
they are not interested in surrendering their connection with existing
incumbent connection and at the same time take advantage of Reliance jio free
services.
As we all know that if any user don't go for a top up for 90
days then the subscribers are termed as non active. It is well expected that
Reliance Jio service offering will have adverse impact on incumbent but it will
start improving from Jan 2017 once Reliance Jio start commercial service.
